Ed Johnson     Giedo De Snijder

We both were 'early' adapters of the Internet, which brought us occasionally together in the mid 90ties. It became the start of our friendship. We were fascinated by the boundless opportunities of what we felt was more than just another new medium. At that time Ed was running a corporate communications company and Giedo was busy to keep his organic goat cheese dairy alive. Communication and goat cheese?! Yeah right...

Soon we grew into this close and intense friendship in which, despite our ups and downs, we always managed to support and stimulate each other. That's why friends are for, isn't it? Just a few years ago we found out, almost by accident, that we share the same birthday. Maybe that's the main reason why we share the same values and understand each other without speaking a word. But there's more: born under the constellation of Lion we have a natural vibrant drive to innovate, to look further than the length of our noses and to stand up for our rights!

The idea for this jobless site originates from July 2009 on an, according to Belgian standards, atypical hot day at Giedo's place, some 20 miles from Brussels, capital of Europe. We were apparently overheated and complaining about being laid off recently (Ed) and the frustration of having no fun at all in what we both were doing at that moment... Our entrepreneurial genes and sound aversion to hopeless weeping, however, gave us that extra push to take action. As frustration led Archimedes to "eureka!" and his famous law, we stopped grousing and started to make something out of our critics and analysis...

With this ambiguous mixed feeling of frustration and determination, and with the aid of a few kettles of good English black tea (who told you Belgians only drink beer?!) we came up with the idea to connect the disconnected. What you see here today is only the beginning of what could become a new self-reliant community. We hope you will enjoy the project and particularly experience the benefits of it. As this is our first version 1.0 we invite you to contribute and to contact us for ideas and comments. We will be very pleased and thankful. Because only together we can fulfill our mission!
